These instructions will explain how to log onto the Lions chat facility, and explain a little about IRC (Internet Relay Chat). Note that these instructions are still in the process of being written, so they are likely to change/improve
The Lions chat uses IRC, which is a method by which people can "talk" in real-time. Chats can be between a group of people, in a channel, or they can be private, one-on-one. If you are new to IRC, we recommend that you read the "Tips & Tricks" page.
There are two ways to connect to the server - you can use a web browser, or you can use a special IRC client program. These pages give instructions for each. Using a web browser is probably simpler (and the only option if you can't install software on the computer you are using). On the other hand, using a client program will give you access to more features.
Although access to the forums is restricted to Lions only, access to the chat facility is not restricted. This gives our friends in other factions a way to talk to us, but it also means that care should be taken when discussing sensitive information.
If you can't find the information you need here, the links page has links to other sites that may be able to help, or you can ask for help on the forum.
