Playing the Game : Villager : Werewolf : Seer
These instructions will explain how to play Werewolf in the Lions chat room. The instructions assume that you are using a web browser to access the Lions chat room. Generally, using a client will work in the same way. You must be able to log onto the Lions chat room. If you do not know how to do this, there are instructions (the short version is, click this link, enter a name in the box, and click the "Chat" button).
This is a game of paranoia and psychological intrigue. Everyone appears to be a common villager, but three players are 'special'. Two people are actually evil werewolves, seeking to kill everyone while concealing their identity. One is also a 'seer'; the seer has the ability to learn whether a specific person is or is not a werewolf. As a community, your group objective is to weed out the werewolves and lynch them both, before you're all killed in your sleep. The werewolves, of course, want to kill all the villagers.
The game will take place in a different channel to the Lions chat room, so that it does not disturb anyone that just wants to have a chat. When you've joined the Lions chat room, simply ask where the game is being run, then join that room. Feel free to stay in the Lions chat room and talk in there as well.
The game is run by "Wolfbot" - a computer program that monitors who is what, and gives instructions. This will appear in the user list with the name "Wolfbot". Someone will start the game by sending Wolfbot a start message. When this happens, Wolfbot will say something like:
Wolfbot: A new game has been started by Russ; say 'Wolfbot: join' to join the game. Wolfbot: Russ: Say 'Wolfbot: start' when everyone has joined.To join the game, type:
Wolfbot: joinYou will get a response like:
Wolfbot: Edain: You are now in the game.
Once enough people have joined, the game will be started. At this point, Wolfbot will send you a private message, informing you whether you are a villager, werewolf, or seer. An extra tab will appear at the top, labelled "Wolfbot" - this is a private chat between you and Wolfbot. Anything said in this tab cannot be seen by anyone else.
