Using silver on were creatures is not illegal under lions law unless it is used in an active attempt to kill them. the weapon type does not factor in to an assault charge except to help define the crime. If you die its murder. if you don't its assault.

If it is simply used to stop their regeneration then I see no reason why it cannot be used in this fight.

Please don't say "but silver can kill us". Artifacts can too. As can mage bolts or harms or the correct application of force from a simple dagger.

Poisons can't be stopped though once they have begun coursing through your blood unless it is cured completely. It can be fended off with a sanctuary but nothing else short of the cure hence their ban. Silver simply for the cost of a single wound stops you regenerating. That wound need not be lethal.

A lion however attacking another Lion technically is illegal however, although this is dependant on the sheriff investigating.

This is a sanctioned duel so there shouldn't need to be any investigating done. I don't think anyone would let someone be downed for long without at least checking, so I assume we've gone into hypothetical situations rather then likely scenarios.

Hypothetical shmypothetical. Anyone hits me with a silver they'll know about it. I've asked politely for it not to be done, especially as this is a sanctioned duel and there's no need for it. There's no need for mage bolts, artifacts or harms either, but there's a difference here. Those cause a lot of damage very quickly, but that's all it is. It's like being hit many times very quickly with a sword.

Hitting a Were with a silver weapon is not like that. It doesn't "just stop regeneration". So I am asking nicely for it not to be used.

Please let's not derail this into bickering about laws and argueing the finer points of pain thresholds. There's a difference between casually beating up your mates and causing them excrutiating levels of pain.

Guilt - here's an alternative for you. By order of the High Healer, everyone carries a perfectly good way of taking a regenerater out of this fight ;-)

Hang on, why am I suddenly getting dragged into this? Frankly, I don't give a toss if regenerators or anyone else can be taken out of the fight. I don't really care if the people in the fight suffer excrutiating levels of pain. As far as I can see, the rules for what weapons, magic, whatever is allowed is down to the people organising the fight. If you don't like the rules they specify, don't take part in the fight.

My main concern is that everyone comes out of the fight alive. It'd be nice if we didn't have to use any healing power on it, but that's less of a concern, and I don't really know how feasible that is anyway. But beyond those two things, I don't care.

Elrood, isn't it your standard order that everyone carry a bandage?

20seconds of wrist-tying and voila! One were out of the fight without nasty weaponry used. I wasn't trying to drag you into anything...

Sheyna, you always were cleverer (or possibly more devious) than me. I think the order was actually that everyone should carry a bandage when on campaign, and I don't really consider the Gathering of Nations to be "on campaign", but I never object to people carrying bandages.

In faith and hope,

So, just to be clear in case of any complications later. If I beat you until you fall over, you have no objections to being tied up afterwards?
