For those who fell at Arrakesh

Postby Aija » Thu Apr 18, 2013 10:51 am

Please note the location has changed out of respect to those who would not feel comfortable in the Lions camp

I am putting this here because I know some who weren't Lions were left behind on the Island. I have heard that there was at least one Jackal, and Dragons too. There may yet be others.

When the Island vanished, all memory of it was supposedly wiped from Erderja. This includes the patterns of those whose bodies were not retrieved, and who hadn't been hit with decay and so went to the Planes of Unlife upon death.

This is not acceptable. Too many people I loved have been erased in the past for me to stand by and watch it happen again.

So I am suggesting that at the Moot, maybe saturday at midday, we all get together in the central marketplace. Bring friends and family of those who died, bring your memories of them, bring personal items of theirs. And we will do the biggest Lay To Rest rite Erdreja has ever seen, and make her remember them. And if their patterns are out there, anywhere, we will get them back where they belong.

I have no idea if it will work, but we can give it our best shot.

Bring food, bring drink, and it will be a Wake to Remember.

This is a noble and worthy idea. I pledge my power to this rite and the memory of the fallen.

Sounds like an excellent plan Sheyna. I'm willing to help in anyway I can.

The main thing we will need is someone who can lay to rest and is a Ritemaster, or an item that will allow them to become a ritemaster. Does the Chain of Office of the High Ritualist still exist, or something akin to it?

We will be able to access an item that will allow anyone to be a rite master without any trouble.

I will be there, offering my power. Midday is a good time, in our pantheon it is the time when Ra is at his mightiest, Asavar was blessed by Ra, was his ancestral, it is fitting that the rite is done then.

I know many Jackals will wish to remember him, and the others who fell. If I might raise a delicate issue, some of those Jackals may well be Unliving. Obviously, none of us want to disrespect your laws, and we will honour your wishes on this, but if it might be possible to allow them to attend should they wish to, it would mean a lot to myself.

I would like to be involved if I may. This is so much of what my faith is. Remembering the honoured dead.

I would also echo my sisters question. We were united on Arrakesh. Might we all be united once more as we do the last thing we can for those lost.

I believe the laws in Lions lands are not that unliving are not allowed, but that they have no rights so any who dismiss them cannot be charged under our laws.

I am not in a position of authority to make any promises of safety, I would hope that those who are could do so...

Perhaps hold it outside of the lions camp then so you are not excluding folk who lost friends? Strangely we have a large area for rites in the guilds.

I have no power, but I have a focus I would like to contribute. It is the very least I can do.

It would, perhaps, be counterproductive to invite any that we could not offer protection to. Therefore, if unliving are to attend, the Lions camp is not the best place to hold this rite. Cade, could you help with securing a suitable place for us to use?

Sheyna, I'll send you a message regarding this.
